The Weight of the......Whoa, Wait a minute!

The god-blessed ant can hold up to 50 times its body weight!  Yes, I said FIFTY!!!!  5-0!!!  Why is it, then, that one little setback in our lives has the whole world spinning out of control directly on our shoulders?  ***Side Note:  I've been dealing with an inundation of ants in my house lately, hence, the ant reference***  Chakras, that's why.  You've heard me mention chakras before, but do you know what a chakra is?  A chakra is the binding point of our body's energies.  Chakras are energy fields, or auras, in an around our bodies.  They run together like a river know as meridians (think acupuncture).  There are seven chakras each corresponding to their own physical, emotional, and spiritual section of our being.

Unlike the ant, I am finding it very difficult lately to deal with weight.  Physical, emotional and spiritual.  Weight, of some sort, has become the every pivoting thought in my head.  I eat too much, weight.  I worry too much, weight.  I doubt too much, weight!  UGH!  At this rate, I'll be on a diet until 2052! The only good thing about all of this is that I'm totally aware of every ounce I'm holding on to.  The physical weight seems to be the easiest to get rid of lately.  I've got my goal, am sticking to it, and am literally melting away.  The spiritual weight I can handle as well.  The emotional weight is crushing me!  I've done some soul searching, internet searching and crystally people searching, and have come to the conclusion that my chakras are completely out of balance...shocker (insert eye roll here)!  I knew I wasn't totally balanced when I started this blog, but what I didn't know is that chakras can be over-stimulated as well as weakened.

After a little bit of research, it appears that my root chakra, at the base in the series, is the most out of whack.  The root, or base, chakra is represented by the color red (in various shades and depths).  This chakra is responsible for our fight or flight response.  It corresponds to the feet, legs, kidneys, bladder and spine.  Coincidentally, I've had issues with my feet (plantar faciitis) since arriving in Paradise.  While my kidneys and bladder are fine, my legs and spine are a bit tweaked.  I've actually even googled restless leg syndrome, thinking that I now suffer from it.  I go to bed lately and my legs are driving me nuts, and I'm tossing and turning to get them to stop with that weird, buggy, twitchy and nerve-ending-being-teased-by-the-devil feeling.  At first I attributed this side effects of taking Melatonin to sleep.  Nope, wonky root chakra!

So how do you fix a wonky chakra, you ask?  Well, it's not exactly hokus-pokus, but it is a bit homeopathic.  I've gotten myself a root chakra bracelet made of red jasper.  It's pretty, functional, and no one would know it's to help me balance.  I also have rosemary growing in front of my house, as well as lavender which is also good for chakra healing.  Course, I didn't know this when I planted the plants, but karma has a way!  Believe it or not, frankincense is also good for healing many chakras, and low and behold, I had the hubs get me some when he was in Bahrain on his last deployment!

Now don't get me wrong, folks, I'm not going all voodoo on you.  I'm just trying to employ some strategies to help me get myself in the best physical, emotional and spiritual shape I can.  What works for me, certainly may not work for others.  I just want to share some of my strategies, however silly they may seem to you.  Besides, what's wrong with a little stone wearing, herb cutting, incense burning love between friends.  Who said the 60's is dead???

There's plenty of remedies for overworked and underpaid chakras out there.  Each chakra is linked, if you will, to the next with the first and seventh being the end points.  It's not a circle mind you, but rather a straight line.  Remember that each chakra is represented by a color, so if you're having issues in that region, just wear that color to balance out.

It's no wonder I'm having issues with my root chakra.  We're "patiently" waiting to hear of our next duty station.  I've informed my Universe, and the rest of the free world, that I want to stay in Hawaii.  I have no doubt that my Universe is listening.  I think my root chakra knows it can't plant until we have a plan.  Here's to digging in deep beside my favorite palm tree!

Life's a beach, and then you live on one...
